SHS Adelettes Shine at Statewide Education Convention

SHS Adelettes Shine at Statewide Education Convention

The talented voices of Syosset High School’s a cappella barbershop group, The Adelettes, took center stage at the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA) Annual Convention. The group, which was founded in 1974, earned statewide recognition for their outstanding performance. Selected through a highly competitive process coordinated by the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA), the Adelettes were chosen to open the 2025 NYSSBA Convention — a gathering that draws thousands of school board members, administrators, and educators from across New York State.

The group began the event with a stirring rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner, followed by several additional selections that captivated the audience.

“The Adelettes’ performance was nothing short of inspiring,” said Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Thomas Rogers. "Their harmonies, stage presence, and musicianship represented the very best of Syosset — and the reaction from everyone in the room was pure pride and admiration.”

The Adelettes’ appearance at the NYSSBA Convention continues Syosset’s strong tradition of excellence in music and the performing arts. Through dedication, talent, and teamwork, the group exemplifies the district’s commitment to nurturing creativity and achievement among its students.
