Honor Societies

NBHS is a nationwide organization dedicated to recognizing outstanding high school students who excel in business education and are committed to pursuing careers in business or related fields. The NBHS provides students with opportunities for personal and professional growth, leadership development, and community involvement

• Sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible to apply
• Must have an A average in business classes, and an overall B+ average in all SHS classes 
• Students must be currently enrolled 
• Students must have completed 6 points or more based on classes and club participation
• Two non-business teacher recommendations

This organization in the United States that recognizes and promotes excellence in the visual arts among high school students. It is a part of the National Art Education Association (NAEA) and aims to inspire and encourage students to develop their artistic skills while fostering a sense of community and responsibility in the arts

• Applications open to all rising 9-12 Visual Art students 
• Must be a visual arts student at Syosset High School in each year of high school 
• Art GPA minimum of a 90 
• Two teacher endorsements 
• Rising 12 grade visual arts students must have been successfully inducted into The National Art Honor Society their Junior year to apply for Senior year. 

This is one of the most well-known and prestigious honor societies for high school students in the United States. It recognizes students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. Being inducted into the NHS is a significant achievement and is often seen as a mark of academic and personal distinction.

• Application process begins in the Spring of junior year
• Cumulative average of a 90 or above at the end of Junior year
• Two clubs or two sports-each year, can be a mix of a sport and club for grades 9-11

We are a group of high school students aiming to spread scientific passion throughout our school and community as well as recognize the future generation of scientists.

• Applicants must be a current junior or senior 
• 11th grade applicants must have taken one full year of science honors in 9th or 10th grade and receive a grade of B+ or higher. 12th grade applicants must have taken one full year of science honors or AP in 11th grade and receive a grade of B+ or higher.
• B+ or higher average overall for classes
• One signature of recommendation from your science teacher 
• If you currently take science Regents, you must currently have an A or higher
• If you currently take science honors or an AP science, you must currently have a B+ or higher

The purpose of this organization shall be the advancement of standards of excellence in the Theatre Arts. More specifically, the organization shall encourage students to attain a better appreciation and mastery of theatre arts.

• Participation in at least two full length plays 
• Earned a minimum of 150 hours towards Thespian induction 
• Points are awarded for participation in Syosset High School productions only 

Tri-M stands for Modern Music Masters, and it is specifically designed to honor students who demonstrate excellence in music and are committed to serving their school and community through music-related activities.

• Students of Tri-M earn points towards induction by participating in music events throughout the year
• Students must be enrolled in a music class
• Students must have a B+ or higher GPA
• Students must play one NYSSMA solo in their high school career
• Students must perform at least once outside of the school community

This is an honor society designed to recognize high school students who excel in the study of foreign languages. It acknowledges academic achievement and promotes a deeper appreciation for global languages and cultures. Induction typically takes place during level 4 or 4 Honors, which is usually in 11th grade.

• A minimum average of A in World Language for the the past two years (B+ in Honors)
• A minimum average of A (B+ in Honors) in World Language for 1st and 2nd marking periods for the current school year
• Overall GPA 85 or higher
